"Hamlet"

This was done back in 2005 for a Theater 101 class that I took. We had to make a fictional poster for a play of our choice that we had read that year. I chose the scene when Hamlet talks to the skull of his friend Yorick. Pretty creepy but it made for an interesting image. Pen and ink on strathmore. My professor liked it very much and commented on something about the moon representing his father and the distance between them since his murder or something like that. Truth is I just wanted to draw a moon and all the unused space is just due to the fact that I didn't want to fill it all in with crosshatching.

"Branches"

This is my attempt at an Edward Gorey style piece. Pelican ink on Strathmore is the medium. In case you were wondering I could not move my hand for a few hours after this was completed.

"Rainbow"

I couldn't think of a better title than the obvious. I'm open to suggestions if you can come up with something better. This was completed over the summer. It also seems to be part of a subconscious series in which I drew a few profiles that involved women. I became self-conscious thinking that Calie would think that I was using it as an excuse to look at other females. It turns out that she understand that her husband is odd and enjoys drawing hair.

"Fake Eyelashes"

Ok, I have a problem. Some of you may already know that I have an obsession with drawing hair. This piece took about 4 hours to sketch and ink. I also did something that I usually hate doing, using Microsoft paint. To me it looks like this could have been used on any Duran Duran album cover during the 80's.

" The Fish"

This piece was completed before the summer and submitted to the Boise Weekly as a possible cover. It was rejected. In a way I'm happy that it was because had it been chosen they would have had the right to keep the original and auction it off at the end of the year for some kind of cause that I don't support. Although it would have been nice to receive $150.00 for an hours work. The medium is pen and ink... not one computer was used!

"White Face"

Over the summer I kept myself pretty busy with drawing whenever I could find the time. I completed the above drawing in late August. The medium used was pen and ink w/ prisma color. There is no real meaning behind this piece but if you want to pretend it has any symbolism then be my guest.

Welcome

I have decided to use this blog for the posting of my artwork which may or may not be updated regularly. With my schedule it will be hard to produce work continuously. Over the past couple of years I have been able to create a little here and there so some of these pieces may have already been seen, but for all of you that haven't had the chance... enjoy.

This is a self portrait that I finished over the summer. It was done in pen and ink over pencil sketch. I think it took a couple of hours to complete. You can also click on any of the images to see the detail better.
